Re-defining Global Data Management and the Role of Technology in Security and Privacy
TGS Baltic and LDAPA (Lithuanian Association of Data Protection Officers) are hosting the annual conference “International Data Protection Conference. Re-defining Global Data Management and the Role of Technology in Security and Privacy”.
The year 2020 shocked the Global Personal Data Ecosystem:
- Global pandemic has proved that human interaction is super resilient to all kind of limitations and physical restrictions are defied; personal information exchange between the countries jumped off the scale.
- The European Court’s judgement in Schrems II case inspired us to rethink the transfer of EU data beyond its borders. Light and formal models of data transfers used until now are no longer suitable, while newly formulated models are still under way and it will take time for businesses, especially digital businesses, to adapt. The seismic waves of Schrems II case have shifted the foundations of global online business and the effects will be felt for years to come.
- BREXIT rules continue spinning their wheels, and that is increasingly provoking personal data practitioners – how will we exchange data with the Brits after the 6-month transition period?
Advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, for which data and the ability to exchange data are one of the most important elements, are ever more intelligently and quickly crunching the data and making data-based decision often completely without human intervention.
